๐Ÿ‘ปYou've Been Boo'd! Boo Bags & Boo It Forward!

How to boo it forward, how to boo your friends, and the local businesses who made it all happen

By Kari Treat | Publisher | Macaroni KID Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates October 1, 2026

The 2026 Boo Bag Drop is officially on the move! Fifty Halloween treat bags are landing on doorsteps across our northwest suburbs October 3-11, and none of it would have happened without the incredible local businesses and nonprofits who stepped up to sponsor. This is our very first year, and the response from this community has been nothing short of magical.

Whether you scored a bag or missed the sign-up window, there's a way for everyone to join the fun. Keep reading!

๐ŸŽƒ What's a Boo Bag?

"Booing" is a sweet neighborhood Halloween tradition. Someone secretly leaves a bag of treats on your doorstep (bonus points for a quick knock-and-run!), along with a note saying "You've Been Boo'd!"

Our Boo Bags are packed with goodies donated by local sponsors, so every bag is a little taste of the businesses and organizations that make our community so special.

๐Ÿ‘ป Got a Boo Bag? Here's How to Boo It Forward

The fun doesn't stop at your door! Here's how to keep the chain going:

1. Enjoy your treats! Dig in and check out who made your bag possible (hint: they're all listed below).

2. Hang your "We've Been Boo'd" sign. Post it on your front door or window so neighbors know your house has already been visited.

3. Boo two neighbors. Fill two bags with treats, add a copy of the Boo It Forward flyer from your bag, and sneak them onto two doorsteps.

4. Knock, ring, and RUN! The sneakier, the better. Kids LOVE this part.

5. Share the fun. Snap a pic of your Boo Bag or your booing mission and tag Macaroni KID Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates plus the sponsors below!

๐Ÿฌ Didn't Get a Boo Bag? You Can Still Boo!

Our 50 spots went fast (thank you for the love!), but booing isn't just for bag recipients. Anyone can start their own Boo chain:

โœ”๏ธ Grab a bag or bucket and fill it with treats, small toys, stickers, or Halloween crafts

โœ”๏ธ Add a note: "You've Been Boo'd! Now boo two friends and keep the fun going!"

โœ”๏ธ Leave it on a friend's or neighbor's doorstep, knock, and run

โœ”๏ธ Thinking about allergies? Non-food treats like glow sticks, pencils, or mini notebooks are a great swap

And keep an eye on our newsletter... we're already dreaming up year two! ๐Ÿ‘€
